This shirt depicts a child's hand being held by a father's hand, both made out of words. This started as a gift idea for my father. But the more and more I thought about it, I wanted to capture what others thought about their fathers. I traveled around Hampton Roads in VA asking people if they were willing to write one word on my design that described their father. I was a little nervous about doing it at first, but as people started taking my pen and tablet and writing the words, it began to feel like we were all sharing something really deep together. It didn't matter if the verbs were words or nouns, I just wanted the first thing that popped into their heads. The design ended up with words as wide-ranging as "irreplaceable", "provider", "play", "big", "unwavering", and "fun". To date, it is one of the Symbiotic Swag designs most special to me.
